Best Jellyfin plugins in 2026: the full list

The best Jellyfin plugins for 2026, a jellyfin plugins list covering the official catalog and third-party repos, with Jellyfin 12 compatibility.

By Swiftly Player9 min read

Disclosure: we build Swiftly Player, one of the clients in this article. We point out where other apps do better.

Plugin names, descriptions and compatibility come from the official manifest at repo.jellyfin.org and from each project's own GitHub repository, checked in September 2026.

TL;DR

Jellyfin's official plugin catalog, at https://repo.jellyfin.org/files/plugin/manifest.json, listed 36 plugins at the time of writing, covering metadata (Fanart, TheTVDB, TMDb Box Sets), subtitles (Open Subtitles), authentication (LDAP), notifications (Webhook) and more. Most of them already have a build for Jellyfin 12; a few, including Bookshelf, do not yet. Beyond the official catalog, the plugins people install most are Intro Skipper (for the Skip Intro button), Jellyfin Enhanced (a web UI enhancement layer), the Streamyfin companion plugin, and the SSO-Auth plugin for single sign-on, each from its own repository that you add by hand. This article verifies what each one does, whether it has a Jellyfin 12 build, and where to get it.

How the plugin catalog and repositories work

Jellyfin's plugin documentation explains that "many plugins are available in a repository hosted on our servers, which can be easily installed using the plugin catalog in the settings." That official repository is added by default. Anything not in it — a community plugin from an individual developer — needs its repository added by hand first.

To add one:

  1. Open the Jellyfin dashboard and go to Plugins.
  2. Open "Manage Repositories" (the Intro Skipper wiki links straight to http://your-server:8096/web/#/dashboard/plugins/repositories).
  3. Click to add a new repository, give it a name, and paste its manifest URL.
  4. Save, then open the Catalog tab and install the plugin, reloading without cache if it does not appear right away.
  5. Restart Jellyfin for the plugin to load.

Jellyfin's own docs list several third-party repositories directly, among them Ani-Sync, danieladov's manifest (Merge Versions, Skin Manager, Theme Songs), LizardByte's (Themerr) and ShokoAnime's (Shokofin). Plugins from developers not on that list, such as Intro Skipper or Jellyfin Enhanced, use their own manifest URLs instead, given below.

The official catalog

The table below covers plugins people ask about most, each pulled directly from the manifest, with the ABI (interface version) its newest build targets. A plugin whose target ABI starts with 12 has a build made for the current Jellyfin 12.x line; one still on a 10.x ABI does not, and may or may not still load depending on what actually changed underneath it.

The full catalog also includes Reports, NextPVR, TVHeadend, IMVDb, Cover Art Archive, VGMdb, Discogs, AniDB, AniList, Kitsu, TVmaze, OPDS, Session Cleaner, Simkl, Subtitle Extract, DLNA, Local Intros, Transcode Killer, LrcLib Lyrics, Google Books, Comic Vine, OpenLibrary and Folio, among others — the manifest itself is the definitive, current list.

Chapter Segments Provider is worth calling out on its own: it is the Jellyfin team's own, built-in-catalog way of filling Media Segments (the storage for intro, recap and credits markers) straight from a file's chapter names, with no external analysis needed. It only works when your files actually have named chapters, which is why most people reach for Intro Skipper as well or instead.

Intro Skipper

intro-skipper/intro-skipper analyzes episodes with chapter markers, audio fingerprints, black-frame detection or silence, and writes the results into Jellyfin's Media Segments. Its default branch README lists Jellyfin 12.0.0 or newer as a requirement, plus Jellyfin's fork of FFmpeg with Chromaprint support; a separate release line covers Jellyfin 10.11.6 and up. Install it from the repository https://intro-skipper.org/manifest.json. We cover the full setup, including the analysis task and troubleshooting, in a dedicated Intro Skipper guide.

Jellyfin Enhanced

n00bcodr/Jellyfin-Enhanced is, in its own words, "a comprehensive enhancement layer for the Jellyfin web UI with keyboard shortcuts, subtitle styling, TMDB and User reviews, Seerr integration with auto-request, a media calendar and download monitor via Sonarr & Radarr". It requires Jellyfin 10.11 or newer, with the same manifest covering both the 10.11.x and 12.x lines. Because it changes the web client itself, it applies to the browser and to apps that embed the Jellyfin web UI, not to native apps such as the official Android TV client. Its manifest URL is https://raw.githubusercontent.com/n00bcodr/jellyfin-plugins/main/manifest.json.

Streamyfin companion plugin

streamyfin/jellyfin-plugin-streamyfin is the server-side counterpart to the Streamyfin mobile app, providing "centralized configuration management for the Streamyfin mobile application", including custom home screen sections, push notifications and Seerr integration. It "requires .NET 9 / Jellyfin 10.11 or newer (as of plugin 0.64.0.0)", according to its README. It is one of the plugins that a specific client app depends on to unlock extra functionality, rather than something every server needs. Manifest: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/streamyfin/jellyfin-plugin-streamyfin/main/manifest.json.

SSO-Auth

9p4/jellyfin-plugin-sso adds single sign-on through OpenID or SAML, letting users log in through Google, Microsoft, Keycloak, Authelia or a similar provider instead of a Jellyfin password. Its README states it needs "Jellyfin >=10.8" and works "only on the Web UI or clients that support Quick Connect functionality" — native apps sign in through Quick Connect once SSO has authenticated the browser, not through the SSO flow directly. One thing to check before relying on it: the repository was archived on May 12, 2026, with the maintainer writing "Project archived because I'm tired of working on this after all the years." It still installs and runs, from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/9p4/jellyfin-plugin-sso/manifest-release/manifest.json, but no further updates are expected unless someone forks it.

Skin Manager, Theme Songs and Merge Versions

All three come from danieladov's manifest, one repository covering three separate plugins:

  • Merge Versions (repo) merges multiple video files of the same title into one entry with selectable versions. Its newest build targets ABI 12.0.0.0, so it has a Jellyfin 12 build.
  • Theme Songs (repo) downloads theme music for your library. Its newest build targets ABI 10.11.0.0, one release behind the 12.x line at the time of writing.
  • Skin Manager (repo) lets you browse and install custom skins for the Jellyfin web client from a catalog inside the plugin. Its newest build still targets ABI 10.7.0.0, so check the repository yourself before installing it on a 12.x server; there is no sign of a build made for the current web client.

Which client features actually depend on a plugin

A server plugin is only half the story — the client you watch on has to know what to do with the data it provides. Two examples where this matters:

Skip Intro and similar buttons need Media Segments filled in first, by either Intro Skipper or the official Chapter Segments Provider, and then need a client that reads them. The Jellyfin web client, Jellyfin for Android TV, Findroid and Streamyfin all do; we go through which client shows what, and where the setting lives, in the Intro Skipper guide.

Single sign-on through SSO-Auth changes how the web client logs in, but native apps still authenticate the way they always did, through Quick Connect or a username and password, once the plugin is configured on the server.

FAQ

What is the official Jellyfin plugin repository URL?

https://repo.jellyfin.org/files/plugin/manifest.json. It is added by default in every Jellyfin install; you only need to add extra repository URLs for plugins that are not in it.

How do I add a plugin repository in Jellyfin?

In the dashboard, go to Plugins, open "Manage Repositories", add a name and the manifest URL, save, then install the plugin from the Catalog tab and restart the server.

Does Intro Skipper still work on Jellyfin 12?

Yes, its default branch README requires Jellyfin 12.0.0 or newer. Servers still on 10.11.x need the separate 10.11 release line from the same repository instead.

What plugin do I need for the Skip Intro button?

Either Intro Skipper, which detects intros, recaps and credits by chapters, audio fingerprints, black frames or silence, or the official Chapter Segments Provider from the built-in catalog, which only uses a file's own chapter markers. Both write to the same Media Segments storage, and any client that reads Media Segments works with either.

Is the Jellyfin SSO plugin still maintained?

The main repository, 9p4/jellyfin-plugin-sso, was archived by its author in May 2026 and receives no further updates, though the existing builds still install and run on current servers.

Can I use a plugin that is not in Jellyfin's official catalog?

Yes. Add the plugin's own repository URL under Manage Repositories the same way you would add any other, then install it from the catalog. Jellyfin's docs list several such third-party repositories directly, and others, like Intro Skipper and Jellyfin Enhanced, publish their manifest URL in their own README.

Summary

Start with the official catalog for anything metadata-, subtitle- or authentication-related — Fanart, TMDb Box Sets, Open Subtitles and LDAP Authentication all have current Jellyfin 12 builds, while Bookshelf does not yet. For Skip Intro, add Intro Skipper or use the built-in Chapter Segments Provider. Jellyfin Enhanced is worth adding if you use the web client day to day, and the Streamyfin and SSO-Auth plugins matter specifically if you use those clients or that login method. Whatever you install, adding a repository is always the same four steps: name it, paste its manifest URL, install from the catalog, and restart.
